Infection Preventionist IV (KFH/HP) – Kaiser Permanente, Downey, CA
Full-time, Day Shift, Working 40 hours per week
Assists with implementing infection prevention and control programs and maintains dashboards of infection cases. Participates in investigations and interviews for surveillance programs to monitor infection control problems, disease outbreaks, exposure, epidemics, and pandemics. Collects data on infection prevention and control programs to identify areas of improvement. Assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating infection prevention and control educational programs. Participates in reviewing policies and procedures related to occupational health.
Education and Experience Required:
- Minimum one (1) year(s) of experience in infection prevention, clinical quality management, or a directly related field.
- Masters degree in Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology, or related field AND minimum two (2) years of health care/professional experience INCLUDING minimum one (1) year of experience in patient management, occupational health, clinical rounds, laboratory, public health, or a directly related field OR Bachelors degree in Nursing, Public Health, Microbiology, or related field AND minimum four (4) years of health care/professional experience INCLUDING minimum three (3) years of experience in patient management, occupational health, clinical rounds, laboratory, public health, or a directly related field OR Registered Nurse (RN) License (without a Bachelors degree) AND minimum six (6) years of health care/professional experience INCLUDING minimum five (5) years of experience in patient management, occupational health, clinical rounds, laboratory, public health, or a directly related field OR Minimum seven (7) years of experience in patient management, occupational health, clinical rounds, laboratory, public health, or a directly related field.
Education and Experience Preferred:

Position Summary:
The Infection Prevention Specialist is considered an Infection Prevention Practitioner. An IP Specialist is expected to work autonomously and should not require mentorship in their role.
All Infection Preventionists (IPs) are accountable for implementation of and compliance with policies, practices, and processes of the infection prevention program at the facility, region, division and system level. In collaboration with the IP leadership, IP medical director, and IP peers, all IPs will follow all current local, state, and federal guidelines, standards, and regulations.
Infection Preventionists provide infection prevention consultative services focused on providing the highest quality care at the lowest cost to patient and organization.
Required Qualifications:

Infection Control Professional – Saddleback Medical Center, Laguna Hills, CA

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support MemorialCare Medical Centers’ strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.
The Infection Control Professional (ICP) position is within the Performance Improvement department at Saddleback Medical Center. The ICP is primarily responsible for the activities aimed at preventing healthcare associated infections (HAIs), ensuring proper Infection Control precautions are in place, and compliance with infection control standards. In collaboration with the Infection Prevention Program Managers, the ICP is accountable for the development, implementation, management, and operation of the infection prevention programs. The ICP conducts rounds, monitors infection prevention practices, collects data, maintains accurate records of HAIs, submits data internally/externally, and trains staff on infection prevention practices. The ICP ensures that the facility follows all federal and state regulations, CDC guidelines, and quality/safety standards to reduce the risks associated with hospital and community acquired diseases for our patients across the care continuum.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in infectious disease prevention at a healthcare organization, preferred.
- Microsoft Office products Word, Excel, and PowerPoint knowledge/experience required
- Working knowledge of and ability to demonstrate a comprehension of medical and nursing education and patient care management, microbiology, pathology, immunology, and medical statistics or biostatistics pre.
- Working knowledge of and experience in the practice of epidemiological principles and infectious diseases as related to infection prevention and control preferred
- Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate a comprehension of medical statistics/biostatistics, data analysis, and reporting of metrics to external agencies.
- Knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office products and/or database management
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in science or clinically related field required, masters preferred. Will consider applicant with equivalent knowledge base and/or experience.
- Post-secondary education in a health-related field including but not limited to medicine, nursing, laboratory technology, public health, or biology, preferred.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) completion, preferred. If completion has not been accomplished upon hire, incumbent will accomplish course completion of specialized study within agreed upon timeframe.
Pay Rate: $111,176- $161,200 Annual Base Salary
